Swedish vs. Thai Massage: Which One Should You Book?
Swedish and Thai massage are the two most requested treatments at our spa in Dhaka — but they feel completely different. One relaxes you into stillness; the other stretches and re-energises you. Here is a plain comparison so you can choose with confidence before your first session.

Swedish Massage
A classic oil massage built on long, flowing strokes. The therapist works with the direction of blood flow to release surface tension, calm the nervous system and quiet a busy mind.
- Eases everyday stress and helps you sleep
- Gentle enough for a first-ever massage
- Warms tired shoulders, back and legs
- Leaves skin nourished with premium oils

Thai Massage
A dry, fully-clothed treatment often described as "assisted yoga". The therapist uses palms, thumbs, forearms and feet to compress muscles and guide you through supported stretches.
- Restores flexibility and range of motion
- Great for desk-bound necks and hips
- No oil — you stay fully clothed
- Energising rather than sleep-inducing

How to choose
Choose Swedish if you want to switch off — after a long work week, before travel, or if this is your first spa visit and you prefer gentle, predictable pressure.
Choose Thai if you feel stiff rather than stressed — tight hamstrings, a locked lower back from long hours at a desk, or if you train and want to move more freely.
Still unsure? Many guests in Dhaka book our Thai Oil & Aroma Combo, which pairs Thai stretching with warm aromatic oils, or alternate the two across visits. Tell our therapist how you feel on the day and they will adapt the pressure.
Common questions
Does Thai massage hurt?
It should feel like a firm, satisfying stretch — never sharp pain. Pressure is adjusted throughout, so tell your therapist at any point.
Which is better for back pain?
For general aching muscles, Swedish works well. For stiffness and posture-related tightness, Thai — or our Deep Tissue session — is usually the better fit. Consult a doctor first for injuries or medical conditions.
How long should my first session be?
60 minutes is the most popular choice. Thai massage also comes in a 90-minute format, which allows a full head-to-toe stretch sequence.
Do I need to book in advance?
Walk-ins are welcome when rooms are free, but weekends fill quickly. Messaging us on WhatsApp is the fastest way to reserve a slot.
